About the L Train
The L train runs on the BMT Canarsie Line, connecting Manhattan's West Side to Canarsie, Brooklyn. It's the only subway line crossing 14th Street and is known for serving hip Brooklyn neighborhoods.
The Canarsie Line opened in 1924 and was one of the first lines to be fully automated. It underwent a major renovation in 2019-2020 to repair damage from Hurricane Sandy.
