About the S Train
The 42nd Street Shuttle is a short, two-station line connecting Times Square to Grand Central Terminal. It's one of the fastest and most efficient ways to transfer between the East and West sides of Midtown.
The Shuttle has been running since 1918 when the original IRT mainline was split. What was once through service became a dedicated shuttle operation.
